About us

Africhlor is an initiative of Elegant Afro Chemicals, a 100% black female owned entity. The R1,5 billion Chlor Alkali plant is situated in Richardsbay Industrial Development Zone, in KZN, South Africa.

The development phase started in 2015 as a direct result of the DTIC mission to India and Italy led by Honorable ex Deputy Minister, Ms Elizabeth Thabethe. 

The plant capacity per annum is 46 845tons with the following products split.

• Caustic soda lye , 45tpd
• Chlorine gas, 37tpd
• Sodium Hypochlorite , 6tpd
• Hydrochloric acid 32% , 3tpd
• Hydrogen gas , 1,3tpd
